Today in my Western Civilization class we learned about how to get easy points from doing blogs every night as homework.  We also learned that we will have homework every night, although Mr. Schick gives homework every night he seems to be a nice teacher that is excited to teach myself and my class about Western Civ.  I can without a doubt say that I am interested in learning about all the things that Western Civilization class has to offer.  A few things that I hope Mr. Schick includes in his lesson plans are partner projects that let us interact with our fellow class mates, things that have us move around the class room so that we can get out of our seats, instead of just sitting at our desk the entire period, etc..  Doing things like those will take away a little bit of the tension in the classroom, this would also help students get to know their fellow classmates better.  Also making jokes or other stupid silly things to lighten the mood like those will help students ease out of their in school stress better and will most likely like their teacher better and also be more excited to go to that particular class

Today in my Western Civ class my class and I learned about the controversial question if the Odyssey author Homer actually existed once, the debate has been going on for a very, very long time and has yet to reach a conclusion from what I hear about the subject.   We also learned about Greeks democracy and about how the Polis were a fundamental unit, made up of a city state. We also learned that a monarchy is ruled by a single person, Aristocrats are the rich and wealthy people, an oligarchy is a gathering of wealthy groups, and symposiums is when a group of powerful men get together and party/debate politics and discuss thing about the government.

Today in Western Civ class I learned that to the west of the Fertile Crescent is Africa.   I also learned that the Nile River flows from South to North rather than North to South, another thing I learned about the Nile river is that it is like a clock that has a certain time each year that it will flood were as The Tigris and Euphrates are unpredictable and can flood whenever.   I also learned that when the Nile river overflows that it leaves behind a rich mud that can be identified as silt, silt helps the Egyptian people a lot as it contains many useful nutrients for plants and acts as a manure for them.   In Egypt Kings were considered to be Gods were as in Mesopotamia Kings were considered representatives of Gods.
